Compared to Spring, the print and product assortment for Summer is always much smaller! The prints that went through for Summer 24 are a mix of vintage or bought prints that I CADed, reworked and recolored.

This was also the second year that I took ownership over the Pride collection, working with the mens and womens designers across all categories and creating artworks for the whole collection!

The Spring 2024 collection at American Eagle is beginning to hit stores and online! So far, there are a lot of cute prints in stores that I made for swim trunks and board shorts, as well as a few prints for woven tops. Like many seasons, there is a mix of prints which I completely made by hand with painting on paper and digitally, as well as vintage prints that I put into repeat, edited with digital painting, cleaned, reduced colors, and re-colored. Holiday 2023 is beginning to hit stores at the beginning of October (or even end of September!) There are a lot of great plaids coming out in stores and online that myself and my team worked on together. We’re really loving the more elevated feel of the studio pics to make the products and outfits look more put together and mature. I drew the two swim trunk prints in Photoshop, and the fishies are my favorite!! Holiday is more dominated by plaids and stripes, but there are a few of my prints that are getting in with swim, outerwear/shackets, and woven shirts. More to come through the end of the year! :)

Back To School 2023 is beginning to hit stores and online at American Eagle! I worked on these prints and yarndyes along with my two other team members. It’s been cool to see our POV and customer mature a bit in the last year with the addition of our new activewear line AE 24/7! For Fall/BTS, the products are more heavy on flannel yarndyes (plaid and stripes), compared to the more print-heavy spring and summer. There are still a few cool prints that I made that are in this season. Excited to see what else comes out!

American Eagle develops product a full year in advance for lead times and more ethical practices, so I was developing this season during late summer/early fall in 2022.

This is my second year of summer prints and yarndyes in stores! It has been exciting to see the brand develop through the seasons, elevating just to be a smidge more sophisticated. My favorite prints that I developed and are in stores are the lemon print and the two large monstera prints, because I was able to take time to digitally paint the motifs. They look great! :)

I worked on this season with my team in summer of 2022, as we develop 1 year in advance. I created prints from scratch, prints from vintage samples, and yarndyes. There may be more drops to summer that I will include in later.

My team and I developed Spring 2023 during Spring in 2022, as we work 1 year ahead for production, for lead times and also general production and sustainable practices. I work on a small team of 3 for the woven yarndye and printed tops, knit tee prints, fleece prints, swim, and outerwear. With our senior artist, myself, and our assistant, we divide up tasks and categories, often working collaboratively on everything.

I will create original hand-drawn prints, create graphic shapes and fill with watercolor/dye effects, create prints from purchased vintage swatches, watercolor/dye prints for swim, textural geos. I CAD up yarndye plaids and stripes and create colorways for the different categories for yarndyes and prints. We work through each season from development through sending out indexed, cleaned prints with screens and pantone-matching for production. This is my second season of Spring that has hit stores, as I am now working on Spring 2023 currently.

There is a lot of development that I create each season that does not end up making it into the assortment, but I do not post all of that work, as development is still owned by AEO. With everything, I don’t have ownership of this work or ability to sell any prints that I’ve created under AEO!

The Holiday season tends to be mostly woven plaids for flannel and outerwear, with a few prints shown online for woven shirts and swim. In addition to mainline development, there are additional artworks that are developed and produced for international customers as well.

Like many seasons, I CAD up most of the plaid layouts in Kaledo weave, often based from vintage samples or inspired by retail. Then along with my team, we create colorways and work with Design to create artwork packages for the different styles.

I worked on the Back To School 2022 season in fall of 2021 along with my two team members. The prints that I included are ones that I specifically developed by hand, which I developed by sketching and digitally painting in Photoshop. BTS primarily has a focus on plaids.

This is just a selection of some of the prints and woven yarn-dyes that I worked on for Summer 22 at AEO. Working a year in advance, Summer 22 was my second full season at the company, and with my manager/team lead Bridget, she and I created all of these prints and yarn-dyes.

I went vintage shopping for plaids with a lens for our customer to begin building our assortment along with our Woven Tops Design team. I CADed up layouts in Kaledo and created colorways, and I was responsible for setting up and sending out files for production.

I work closely with the Knits team every season to create repeat stripes, engineered chest stripes, prints and stripes for polos, prints for laser-cut, as well as an assortment for international tees and polos.

There are many prints that I created during this season, from small geos to large conversational prints. As on trend, many of the shirts chosen are also based in vintage prints, which I was apart of CADing and coloring.

There are many other prints that I’ve worked on but will not put on my website, out of respect and privacy for AEO. All rights and ownership to the artwork and photographs belong to AEO. I only post my work once it’s out in stores! :)

I create prints in collaboration with my CAD team. I get to have a lot of fun creating prints for Swim shorts and trunks, ranging from creating watercolor washes that are digitally printed, creating prints with gradients, stripe placements, creating prints from vintage swatches, and hand-drawn motifs and prints.

I draw and create illustrative motifs for the Underwear artist to use. The artist passes me specific motifs and styles to develop into, and I create original drawings in Illustrator and Photoshop. I have many different drawing styles from loose brush strokes, graphic shape-based drawing, neon, and indexing and collating photographs.

I do not own the rights to the photography or the artworks themselves, and all property belongs to AEO.

I began working at American Eagle Outfitters in the NY Design office in December 2021. Starting out on the CAD team, I was focused on women’s plaid for Spring 22, as well as men’s plaids and prints. At AE, I create yarn-dye plaids and woven stripes in Kaledo Weave and prints in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Kaledo Print.

As things roll out in stores, I will share my work on my website. There are of course other development and prints that I have worked on but will not share on my public website. Pictures are from the ae.com website.

This is just a small sampling of the prints that I have been creating while working in-house for American Attitudes-Say What. I am the print designer for all brands within missy, juniors, women’s, and young men’s. I create prints in a variety of ways from sketching on paper to indexing photos and painting overtop in Photoshop, creating vector shapes in Illustrator, and so on.

I create all prints, graphics, engineered prints, and jacquard design by hand from start to finish and prepare each file for production.

This was my first time ever creating CADs. I was originally hired just as a print designer, but have been asked to work on other things, such as branding and CAD design. I was specifically asked to create these CADs in a more illustrative way, rather than basic flats.

I created the plaid yarn-dye package for the in-store and ECOM options for the Urban Pipeline brand under Kohl’s for Fall 2019.

This was my first try at creating plaids, but I absolutely loved the challenge to grow and lean more on my designer’s eye for optical color-mixing.

I first began with R&D, looking at the larger trends as a whole for plaid flannels within menswear and delved specifically into competitors and aspirational brands, such as: Vans, RVCA, PacSun, UO, Billabong, and Hollister. I wanted to find 4-5 core trends to elevate our brand for the next season, while also still covering off on the core plaids with buffalo checks and 2-color plaids.

Through working through this package, I would learn from a manager on my team of which plaids fall into which category. For this brand under YM’s, I covered off on buffalo checks but with an added interest, thicker ombrés, surprising use of color but not popping on a light ground, using dark grounds overall and keeping a more muddy palette with pops of fashion colors, and playing largely with scale and madras/ asymmetrical plaids.

I created the plaids in both Kaleido weave software as well as Illustrator. I presented my work to my art director and manager, working through with them, since this is a large seller for Kohl’s. I also worked with the designer and presented the package in phases to the PM’s and buyers.

I created prints for the Croft & Barrow Spring/Summer 2019 linen package at Kohl’s, with an emphasis on the reprise of the Aloha/vacation shirt. Initially there were two print packages being developed for Crosshatch and Microfiber shirts, but eventually what developed and went into stores in Spring 2019 is the linen package.

I’ve included my research and development by looking at competitors and aspirational brands, as well as our internal LY and LS sales to comp. I really love making prints from scratch, such as with the reverse-printed red hibiscus with hand drawn flowers, as well as the blue scenic print, in which I referenced houses and the beaches at Galveston, Texas, which I would visit during the summers as a kid. Some of the prints included are taken from vintage swatches that I put into repeat, indexed, and heavily edited and recolored.

While working at Kohl’s Corporate, I developed many prints for the Young Men’s division of the private brand Urban Pipeline. For Trans/Spring, Spring/Summer, and Trans/Fall 2019, I developed prints for SS woven shirts.

I have included some of the research development for each print package, and I created each print shown with hand-drawing, Photoshop, and Illustrator and cleaned up and sent out each print for production. I worked with the head UP designer, my art director, and the product manager.

The Urban Pipeline brand was expanding greatly during the development seasons in 2018, and I worked with the knit designers, product manager, and buyer for the new curved hem program and online expansion of the fashion tee program.

The tie-dye prints originate from pre-existing tie-dye/shibori prints from the Kohl’s library that I then edited, recolored, and created the iterations of stripe knock-out prints. My favorite print still is the rose print that I created in Illustrator in repeat and then redesigned for the curved hem program to be an engineered fade.

These are prints that I made, cleaned, and sent out for production while working for Kohl’s for the modern/contemporary private brands APT 9 and Marc Anthony.

While working for Kohl’s, I worked on R&D and making full print packages for men’s and boy’s private labels TekGear and FILA outlet.

I would create research packets from online and in-store comp-shopping, create a package of prints and engineered prints to present to the designer and a full presentation to the product manager and team.

With working on the Men’s team at Kohl’s, the boys’ 8-20 fell under our umbrella, so while working on young men’s Urban Pipeline and TekGear for men’s, I also created packages of prints for the boys’ section.

I worked on the expanding project of Families for Your Jammies while working at Kohl’s, being part of the team that brought the $3m business in 2017 to the $25m+ business of 2018. It was a fun project to work on along with a select group of artists from each of the teams in-house.

I created R&D, presentation, and pattern and graphic development for the “whimsical lodge family”.

I have been working at Kohl’s Corporate since August 2017 as a textile artist on the Men’s Team. I make repeat patterns and graphics for the private brands, such as Croft & Barrow, Urban Pipeline, TekGear, FILA, Marc Anthony, and APT 9.

This is a collection out in stores for Fall 2018 that I created when I first started my job. I have my research and development shown, along with some process work and the final assortment in stores. For the most part, I begin most patterns by drawing from life or from reference photos with graphite or ink, and then I work digitally with color, layout, and production.

While interning at Kohl's Corporate for Textile Art in Summer 2016, I delved into different departments and experimented with quick turnarounds for repeat patterns and graphics. I primarily started everything with sketches in pencil and ink, and I manipulated and colored everything digitally in Photoshop and Illustrator.
